MV Professional Practical Training procedure

The Professional Practical Training (PPT) consists of the student’s participation in practical activities to be carried out at internal structures of the University (intramural) or at universities or public or private structures (host organizations) affiliated with the Department of Veterinary Sciences (LIST OF AFFILIATED ORGANIZATIONS/COMPANIES ), in order to complete the theoretical-practical and professional training of the student. During the PPT, the student carries out the activities under the supervision of a duly trained external tutor. When these activities are carried out outside the Department under the supervision of a non-academic tutor, this latter will be duly trained. Tutor training is in fact a mandatory prerequisite for signing the agreement (Link).

The student can start the Professional Practical Training if this activity is not concurrent with the course of the lessons and only if in compliance with the following requirements:

  • compliance with the obligations set out in Annex 7 – “Preliminary list for enrollment in the internship”; these requirements will be ascertained by the Sector Coordinator by verifying the “Certificate of enrollment with exams” (present on the “Alice” University portal) that the student presents when agreeing the location and the internship period;
  • obtainment of the certificate of suitability for the Safety Training Course;
  • possession of the medical certification necessary for carrying out the Professional Practical Training, if required.

To carry out the curricular Professional Practical Training, students must follow the indications in the Professional Practical Training procedure which governs the performance of these activities. The Professional Practical Training application must be completed following the deadlines set out by the procedure and with the appropriate forms.

In the period of the Covid-19 health emergency, the student can carry out internships in the presence and/or remotely. The student must make arrangements with the sector contact person and submit an application with attachment 4a for the Professional Practical Training in class and with attachment 4b for the remote Professional Practical Training.

When carrying out intership periods in the presence, the student must enter the training project directly at the host organizations. To carry out internship periods in the Department’s facilities, the training project will be completed at the teaching secretariat after an appointment to be agreed by email at didattica@vet.unipi.it. In addition to the training project, the following documents are required:

  1. For internship periods within Department facilities, a declaration signed by the sector contact person drawn up according to Facsimile A; ,
  2. for internship at affiliated organizations/companies the University, a declaration drawn up according to Facsimile B together with a copy of the Covid-19 prevention protocol or the safety operating instructions adopted by the same host organization .
